Hartwell Consulting was founded on a simple observation: most advisory work is written for a boardroom that doesn't exist. Policies that assume perfect information, training programmes built for a different labour market, leadership models imported wholesale from elsewhere.
We work differently. We build leadership programmes, policy positions and sector strategy around the organisations we're actually sitting across the table from, in Accra and beyond.
That means every engagement starts with a genuine diagnostic, not a template pulled from a previous client. We ask what is actually happening inside an organisation, where decisions stall, what regulation or custom actually governs a sector, and what "success" needs to look like before we recommend anything. Clients come to us from corporate Ghana, government agencies, non-profits and organisations in energy, mining and agribusiness, and each one gets a programme built around their own context rather than a repackaged version of someone else's.
Every facilitator and advisor has actually done the job they teach or advise on, not just studied it in a classroom. Recommendations get tested against how decisions really get made inside an organisation, not how a textbook says they should.
Frameworks are built around local regulation, labour market realities and institutional structure, not translated wholesale from a market that works differently. What holds up in Accra does not always come from a template written somewhere else.
We define what "different" actually looks like at the start of an engagement, in language specific enough to check later, and we return to measure against it once the work is done. If nothing changed, we say so.
